Drawing has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Starting with portraits of movie stars, family, and friends, I later began creating scenes of everyday life in the styles of Norman Rockwell and Walt Disney. I've also found inspiration from historical subjects.
When I discovered quilt art as a means of expression, fairy tales provided a rich tapestry of subject matter. My original quilts used commercial fabric patterns. I later began painting and decorating the fabric myself, preferring the three dimensional textures and handmade appearance. This way I can achieve the desired effect without having to rely on finding the “perfect” pattern in the store.
Working as a graphic designer also provides inspiration for my illustrations. I use acrylic paints, oil crayons and colored pencils to create patterns and textures that I scan into the computer.
Combining these techniques creates a magical, whimsical world of fabric quilts and digital art.
