Drawing has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I started with portraits of movie stars, family, and friends and later began creating scenes of everyday life in the styles of Norman Rockwell and Walt Disney. I've also found inspiration from historical subjects.
When I discovered quilt art as a means of expression, fairy tales provided a rich tapestry of subject matter. My original quilts used commercial fabric patterns. I later began painting and decorating the fabric myself, preferring the three dimensional textures and handmade appearance. This way I can achieve the desired effect without having to rely on finding the “perfect” pattern in the store.
Working as a graphic designer also provides inspiration for my illustrations. I use acrylic paints, oil crayons and colored pencils to create patterns and textures that I scan into the computer.
Combining these techniques creates a magical, whimsical world of fabric quilts and digital art.
